Leave a Gift in Your Will
Please consider leaving a gift to the Coolum Men’s Shed in your Will, helping
secure the future of the place that brings mateship, skills and purpose to so
many members.
Your legacy, no matter the size, will ensure the Shed continues to support blokes
in our Coolum community for generations to come.
A bequest is a lasting way to give back to the Shed that has given so much to all of
us. Any gift can help the Coolum Men’s Shed provide ongoing opportunities for
improved wellbeing and health for your mates and give them something to
remember you by.
Leaving a Gift
The Coolum Men’s Shed is incredibly grateful to all the special people who choose
to support the Shed through a bequest (a gift or Legacy made in your Will).
Your bequest will contribute directly to continuing and expanding all of our
activities, helping the Coolum Men’s Shed have an everlasting impact on the
health and future of Coolum Beach shed members.
Every dollar really does make a difference to us, and you can rest, knowing you’ve
made a positive difference to your community after you’re gone.
We will also include your name (or family name) on the “Legacy Page” on our
website as a recognition of your contribution to the Coolum Men’s Shed.
How bequests work
You have various options when it comes to leaving a gift in your will to ensure
your estate is shared how you wish.
BEQUEST INFORMATION
Pecuniary Bequest.
A fixed amount specified in your Will. This gift is in the form of a specified amount
e.g. $10,000.
Percentage of Estate (also known as a fractional amount).
If you wish to divide your estate among a number of people or organisations. This
method ensures that inflation doesn’t erode the value of your gift over time.
Residuary Bequest.
The remaining value of an estate when all other bequests to family and friends
have been made and liabilities have been paid out.
Specific wording.
Here is the specific wording recommended for including a bequest to the Coolum
Men’s Shed in your Will.
1.
Pecuniary Bequest (donate a specific sum)
“I give to the Coolum Men’s Shed (ABN 62 801 175 580), for its general purposes,
free of all duties the sum of $__________ for which an authorised receipt from
Coolum Men’s Shed will be a sufficient discharge for the executor or trustee.”
2.
Percentage of Estate (donate a percentage)
“I give to the Coolum Men’s Shed (ABN 62 801 175 580), for its general purposes,
free of all duties ________ % of my residuary estate for which an authorised receipt
from the Coolum Men’s Shed will be a sufficient discharge for the executor or
trustee.”
3.
Residuary Bequest (donate the remaining value of your estate)
“I give to the Coolum Men’s Shed (ABN 62 801 175 580), for its general purposes,
free of all duties the residue of my estate for which an authorised receipt from
the Coolum Men’s Shed will be a sufficient discharge for the executor or trustee.”
Additional Information
We appreciate that this can be a sensitive issue; please email the team at the
Coolum Men’s Shed
[email protected]
or give us a call
(07) 53193755, if you would like to discuss a bequest or a donation.
If you are comfortable to do so, please let us know that you have included the
Coolum Men’s Shed in your will. This gives us the chance to say thank you, keep
you up to date with news and stories from our organisation and involve you and
your family in relevant special events throughout the year.
We will also record your intentions expressed during your lifetime; this will help
to support your choices, should they ever be questioned after your passing.
Who can help?
If you are making, or amending your will, we recommend that you seek advice
from the Public Trustee (or a solicitor) to ensure that the wording of your Will
reflects your exact wishes.
The Public Trustee is part of the QLD Government and offers a significantly
subsidised service for people with a concession card. Queensland Public Trustee
